End of the Year: A few clouds and a little bull

2008 is outa here. Hope everyone has a good 2009. Good luck remembering to write 2009 on your checks.

First picture is from Table Bluff looking towards the mouth of the Eel River. Had some nice light that day. The second was taken at the pumpkin patch in Alton around Halloween.

First Snow

We have had our first cold front of the year, and it dropped some snow on the surrounding mountains. So this weekend we headed up to Monument Mountain with some family to let the kids play. While there are no pictures of kids playing in my post, they were there. I got quite a few good pictures up there, and here are two.

Monochromes in the Winter

Winter is my favorite time to shoot for Monochrome. The winter clouds that most people dread are a welcomed sight for me, so I made time today to go out and shoot some pictures just for black and white. Both pictures are from Ferndale. The barn is across from the Catholic Cemetary, and the mountain shot is from Grizzley Bluff Road.

Happy Thanksgiving

A couple of shots of what we have so far. The turkey is still in the oven. The first is apple pie, and the second is a name tag that my wife and my daughter Mandy made for each plate. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Greg & Allie

A few photos from Greg & Allies wedding from earlier this summer. Allie is usually pretty shy, but she really shined for the camera that day. Had a blast shooting this wedding, and really got some killer shots.

Hope you enjoy.

Veterans Day

I went to the Veterans Day Celebration at the Adorni Center. It was really nice to see so many veterans, and so many people come out to pay tribute to great heros. We should all be thankfull for thier service. Don't forget to thank a Veteran.

A doll and some corn

These pictures, as with the last were taken with the 50mm at f1.4. I enjoy shooting with this lens up close on occasion to get that very shallow depth of field. The top photo is an Oriental doll, and the second is a Halloween decoration.

Dan's Senior Portrait

I got to shoot my sons Senior Portrait this last weekend. We went up on Bear River Ridge and shot for about an hour. Weather was hot up there, and we didn't think to bring water. He did well for not liking to be in front of the camera. After taking the main pictures, we got Anjel out of the truck, and took some pictures with Dan and Anjel. Notice the smile with Anjel.

Hope you enjoy. Dave

A windmill, A river, A sunset

Thought I would post some Monochromes. The windmill is in Ferndale on Centerville road, as is the sunset, taken out past the old Navy Base. The river scene is taken at Bridgeville, below the bridge.

Lost Coast Vineyards Wine Tasting at The Wildcat Wine Shoppe

We went to the wine tasting event held at The Wildcat Wine Shoppe a few weeks back featuring Lost Coast Vineyards. I had done some work at the Vineyard a few years back when they were just starting out, so it was a somewhat special thing for me. The picture below was taken when we left. It was dusk and I really liked the look inside. I stood in the street at ISO 800 and around 1/30th shutter speed to get this. Hope you like it.

The Wildcat Wine Shoppe

For the month of October I have some photos on display at The Wildcat Wine Shoppe located in Ferndale. Check out their website and look at their event calender. They always have something going on every weekend. Jamie and Lisa have done a great job of setting up the shop, it has a great atmosphere, lots of fine wine and even locally brewed beer. Great appetizers, and don't forget great art.

So try to get by and enjoy a little quality time.

Introduction

Welcome to the blog for Dave Keating Photography. I shoot weddings, lifestyle, commercial, and landscape. Check back often for samples from my different shoots.

Here are a couple photos from Anthony and Melissa's wedding. I had fun shooting this wedding as the ceremony and reception were in low light conditions, and quite challenging. Many thanks to my wife for helping keep everyone on track, and my daughter for running off camera flash. We shot from 11 am until about 10:30 that night. I was wore out.
