Humboldt Bay and the Samoa Bridge

Taken from the Adorni Center, this is the first section of the Samoa Bridge. I took this at the same time as the picture of the Carson Mansion. The second picture is a bench on 2nd street above the Adorni Center.

I am going to link to the video. Video is HERE

Johnny Cash

I have always been a fan of Johnny Cash. His style of music, the stories he tells, and a great voice all combine for a great experience. The video below is on my blog not just because I like the song, but because I just love the imagery in it. I think some of Johnny's later works, including cover songs, were some of his best stuff. There is a simplicity in it that combines the raw form of music you might find playing on the front porch of a lone house in the south on a warm evening, with the refined skill of a master of his trade. The imagery, shot in black and white, has great angles and masterful light. A great song to listen to with great imagery to go along with it.

The Carson Mansion

William Carson built this Victorian style mansion in the early 1880's. The Carson Mansion has materials imported from all over the world. Fine woodwork, and elaborate detail make the mansion stand out. In 1950, the Carson Mansion was purchased by the Ingomar Club. Since the Ingomar Club took over the property, they have spent millions in the renovation, and maintenance of the mansion. Always popular with tourist, it is one of the most photographed Victorians in California. I hope you enjoy my interpretation.

Tattoo

My daughter Mandy got a new tattoo. It was done by Rick at Instant Gratification. They can be reached at 442-6736. Mandy is very happy with the new ink, and I think Rick did a great job. Here are a couple of pictures of the finished product. Pictures during the tattoo can be seen Here.

Enjoy, Dave.

Marina Way Dock

This dock is located on Marina Way in Eureka. They have crab at the moment. As you can see, there is a fair amount of decay in this area. Taken late afternoon.
